Meditation: How it can help your physical, mental and spiritual health

Meditation is something that I feel is very important so I thought I would share my views on it. By meditating often (I try to every day) it has changed my life. Meditation can heal the body, mind and spirit in profound ways. By meditating often one can reduce or reverse the negative effects that stress has caused on one's body. Since I began meditating my daily stress level has decreased dramatically. I do not dwell or worry like I used to and I physically feel much better because all of the stress is not weighing me down like it used to. I still have stressful moments and worry occasionally but not like I used to. I feel it is just as important to meditate each day as it is to exercise and eat a healthy diet. All you need to do is make the time, that is the key. Once you get into a routine and you feel the changes and benefits of it, you will want to find the time for it. There are several ways to meditate. I lay down, close my eyes and hold crystals because I am so connected to them. I take a few deep breaths, go through relaxing all parts of my body and then I focus on the vibrations the crystals emit to clear my mind. When day to day thoughts start trying to come back to me (and they always do), I bring my attention back to my breathing and back to the vibrations of the crystals. You do not have to use crystals to meditate, that is just my preference. You may want to use a guided meditation. I have listened to Brien Weiss and Esther Hicks meditation CDs several times when I was first starting out with meditation. Find one that is right for you but listen to samples first so you can find one that has a voice you would like to listen to. You can also say mantras such as OM (sounds like AUM). You can incorporate meditation into your yoga routine and some say that you can meditation while running. Listening to music is a great way to meditate but try to stay away from popular music or what is on the radio, it is best to use "spa" or "meditation" music. There are many types of meditation music to choose from, find one that suits you. You can even use a combination of those things and add some candles, essential oils, or incense. Just make the time, pick a place where you can sit or lay down for a short amount of time without being interrupted and give it a try. Start off by trying it a few minutes a day and increase it from there. It is not easy to clear your mind of everyday thoughts so don't get discouraged and keep trying. With a little practice it will start to come easy to you and you will want to do it because you will notice the positive things changing in your life.  If you want to know more about meditation and what crystals I use for various reasons during meditation, please contact me.
